We honor the memory of Zhou Guozhen, the master educator, organizer and leader who brought many young people in China to a full understanding of the power of mathematics.
He was the beloved grand-nephew of the first premier of modern China, Zhou Enlai. His grandfather, Zhou Enkui, and Premier Zhou were cousins who grew up together.
Zhou Guozhen initiated and organized the Hope Cup National Mathematics Invitational Competition. He served as editor of Mathematical World magazine, and assembled a world-class team of educators and financial supporters to sustain it.
His life is a beacon of humility and achievement that will forever inspire the Chinese nation and its students, and stands as an example of service through science to the whole world.
