Zhou Huazhang — 1929 – 2019
This video celebration of the life of Zhou Huazhang begins with the most important music of his life — the national anthem of China, with scenes from the natural and historic beauty of the nation he helped to build.
Then we see scenes of the man himself, in daily life over the years. Followed by the Zhou family history, one of the most prominent in China, with vintage photos and pages from his book, “Home.”
We see an account of one of the most important turning points of his life — the passing of his uncle, Premier Zhou Enlai.
A tribute to his lifelong partner of over 60 years, Hou Yunzhen, follows, with scenes of Zhou Huazhang and key family members, including his son, daughter and grand-daughter.
A playful poem on a beach — then a re-enactment of the moment that Zhou Enlai reached out to President Nixon, at the Beijing airport. Zhou Huazhang, at Turtle Bay in Kahuku Hawaii, played the role of his uncle, and Katherine Cleveland, the grand-daughter of U.S. President Grover Cleveland, played Nixon. Scenes from his life in Hawai’i, and the many great friends he made in his 11 years there.
90 years of a fulfilled, humble and important life.
